Welcome to Rau-Wood Retreat Center
The Rau-Wood Retreat Center property was purchased in 1963, when it was known as. “ Clear Water Beach” because of the pristine and clear water good for summer time fun and swimming. For Generations this was the local swimming hole. After purchase, the camp was named for a local pastor, Robert Rau, and the bishop of the Lutheran Church at that time, Bishop Wood.
Rau-Wood Retreat Center is located at 8687 Old Harding Pike in Nashville. It is a picturesque, 70 acre piece of property located beside the South Harpeth River. It is a convenient 20 minute drive from downtown Nashville, TN and 15 minute drive from Franklin, TN.
Rau-Wood is used by many church groups , family get togethers , vacation and retreat experiences and we now offer wedding experiences. It has accommodations for 35 beds for over night stays in a single 2 story bunk house. The top floor has an open living/dining /kitchen floor plan with accommodations for 14 people, while the bottom floor is set up to hold 20 with a jack and Jill type bathroom set up per 2 rooms. There is a separate meeting room and kitchen that is good for large meals and meetings for the bunk house guests, this room is also good for meal prepping for all the events that this facility can be used for. We also have a large, 1,500 square foot building referred to as the “ chapel” that close to the river that is perfect for large group meetings, wedding, celebrations and gatherings of all kinds.
